I've read the service bulletin, walked through it a couple of times, cleaned the seal area and flange with Acetone, and have a new tube of Pliobond.

Just follow Lycoming's instructions for install -- I made a tool using a piece of PVC, bent and a slot cut to fit over the crank flange, a piece of aluminum bar stock through one of the prop bolt holes to keep the seal stationary, and a thin plastic bag to help the seal go over the flange.

Lycoming ST. I decided to make my own Lycoming style seal tool after asking my mechanic if he had one and was told "they are too expensive". The total build time was about 1.5 hrs. This makes the seal replace a snap! I cut a 6" and 3" piece of 1/2" 4130 steel tubing and welded them together. I just happened to have some lying around the shop.

The lycoming gasket kit actually includes both seals. I used the one piece seal also when overhauling my engine. Remove the spring, tape the crank flange good with electric tape to cover the sharp edges, warm the seal up in hot water lube everything up and it will actually go on easier than you think.
FL. Display name: Salty. Max allowed under for a lycoming 0-360 main crank I believe is .010". I doubt the standard rubber seal would leak with such a small difference, but I'm no expert.
